It’s taken a few years, but renovations to the Stephenville-Kippens-Port au Port Search and Rescue building in Stephenville are nearing completion.

The team formed in 1983 and acquired their current location in 2007.

The building, located on St. Clare Avenue, houses equipment and acts as a headquarters. Renovations have been underway for the past four years.

“A longtime dream is almost complete,” said Gerry Clark, team co-ordinator, of the building’s overhaul.

The Stephenville-Kippens-Port au Port Search and Rescue activities and building upgrades are funded by the Towns of Stephenville and Kippens; Human Resources, Labour and Employment; and various fundraisers. As well, the College of the North Atlantic provided donated labour from their heavy equipment school.
