Two men in their early 20’s were no worse for wear after having to spend Sunday night in the woods near Fox Island River in western Newfoundland. According to the Bay St.George RCMP, the two en separated from their group to walk along the Fox Island River to a swimming pool upstream when they lost their way and never reached the pool. The police were advised around 1 a.m. Monday morning. A search of the area commenced that involved RCMP Police Dog Services West, the Stephenville-Kippens-Port Au Port Ground Search and Rescue team and members of the local detachment. At 7:20 a.m. the two were located near the river by ground search and rescue members who were acting as spotters in a Universal Helicopter from Pasadena. The men had spent the night around a fire and were planning to try to retrace their steps during the daylight hours back to the road.
